Hi Jeremy,
I noticed in the default theme you have some spiffy headers for the Syndication and other images in the right column. Once I added widgets to the right column, your images went away. Is it possible for me to use images as you did with the widgets? My work in progress is here: http://stmichaels-litchfield.org/blog

Thanks in advance.

Okay it will take a little more work but it should be possible. This is much easier if you download Firebug for Firefox so that you can see all the ids and class and such. Basically what you'll have to do is to go through your widgets and find the class of the li that contains the widget contents. For example the archive widget has a class of .widget-archive. Next you will need to add this to the custom css in the theme options.

.widget-archive {
background: url(http://link_to_the_image.jpg) no-repeat scroll left top;
padding-top: 20px;
}
.widget-archive h2 {
display:none;
}

This code will display the image as the background for the li item then stop the display of the h2 which contains the text. You can adjust the padding-top to suit your taste probably the best way would be your image height plus about 5px. The site is looking very nice.

WOW that was FAST! Thank you very much! I'm glad you mentioned Firebug because I had seen that in another post and then forgot about it. I'll do that now and work through the help you have given me. (And thanks for the compliment on the site, I'm new to WP so this is a steep learning curve Laugh).

Jeremy, I'm sorry to be bothering you again. First, Firebug is very helpful! Second, my image for the Recent Posts widget isn't showing up. Here is the link to the image: http://stmichaels-litchfield.o…..recent.jpg (so I know it is out there).

Here is the code in my custom CSS:

.widget_recent_entries {
background: url (http://stmichaels-litchfield.o…..recent.jpg) no-repeat scroll left top;
padding-top: 35px;
}
.widget_recent_entries h2 {
display:none;
}

Firebug actually says :

  • Recent Posts

    I tried it with ".widget widget_recent_entries" per your instructions above but it seems to prefer simply ".widget_recent_entries" BUT the image still isn't showing up. I'm sure I'm doing something silly here…

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Jeremy, I'm sorry to say but I'm back for more help Laugh I have added your techozoic_rss widget but as before want to use my own image. I have updated the custom css so that mine shows up but I can't figure out how to remove yours. I deleted the image but that doesn't really do the trick because the alt text "Syndicate" still shows up. I am loath to try to change any php on my own because I really hosed that (see another post from me elsewhere LOL). THANKS!! http://stmichaels-litchfield.org/blog/
