And as usual, I have another questions.

This time about the placement of tags. When one clicks on a post from the top page, and then views the full post on its own page, the tags move from the bottom (where they are on the home page) to the top of the post, just under the title. I would like them to remain at the bottom and not clutter the top of the post.

What do I edit, and with what code?

Thanks…

To move the tags from the post header on single pages you’ll need to edit the single.php file and look for this code

<small><?php printf(__(‘By %s’,’techozoic’), get_the_author()); ?>. <?php printf(__(‘Filed in %s’,’techozoic’),get_the_category_list(‘, ‘)) ?>&nbsp; | &nbsp;<?php edit_post_link(__(‘Edit’,’techozoic’), ”, ”); ?>&nbsp;<br /><?php the_tags(); ?></small>

You’ll need to change it to this.

<small><?php printf(__(‘By %s’,’techozoic’), get_the_author()); ?>. <?php printf(__(‘Filed in %s’,’techozoic’),get_the_category_list(‘, ‘)) ?>&nbsp; | &nbsp;<?php edit_post_link(__(‘Edit’,’techozoic’), ”, ”); ?>&nbsp;<br /></small>

Then further down the page is a section like this.

<p class="postmetadata alt">

<?php printf(__('This entry was posted on %1$s at %2$s and is filed under %3$s. You can follow any responses to this entry through the %4$s feed.','techozoic'), get_the_time('l, F jS, Y'), get_the_time(), get_the_category_list(', '), "<a>".__(‘RSS 2.0′,’techozoic’)."</a>"); ?>

Simply change it to this.

<p class="postmetadata alt">

<?php printf(__('This entry was posted on %1$s at %2$s and is filed under %3$s. You can follow any responses to this entry through the %4$s feed.','techozoic'), get_the_time('l, F jS, Y'), get_the_time(), get_the_category_list(', '), "<a>".__(‘RSS 2.0′,’techozoic’)."</a>"); ?><br /> <?php the_tags(); ?>

Ok, thanks.

I found a copy of single.php in:

htdocs/main/wp-content/themes/technozoic-fluid

I copied out the file via ftp. I substituted the first code group. However, the second code group is not quite the same as what you have me looking for. And, it seems to me in your second code blocks that what I am putting in is the same as what I am taking out. Here is what is in my single.php

There is a small tag, and a href link.

<p class="postmetadata alt">
<small>
<?php printf(__(‘This entry was posted on %1$s at %2$s and is filed under %3$s. You can follow any responses to this entry through the %4$s feed.’,’techozoic’), get_the_time(‘l, F jS, Y’), get_the_time(), get_the_category_list(‘, ‘), "<a href="".get_post_comments_feed_link()."">".__(‘RSS 2.0′,’techozoic’)."</a>"); ?>

help… help…

Ok I was pulling code from the latest version 1.9.1. You can replace that block of code with this.

<p class="postmetadata alt">
<small>
<?php printf(__(‘This entry was posted on %1$s at %2$s and is filed under %3$s. You can follow any responses to this entry through the %4$s feed.’,’techozoic’), get_the_time(‘l, F jS, Y’), get_the_time(), get_the_category_list(‘, ‘), "<a href="".get_post_comments_feed_link()."">".__(‘RSS 2.0′,’techozoic’)."</a>"); ?><br /><?php the_tags(); ?>

OK great….

And I see where somehow the copy did not pull the full code from the 4th block… they are indeed different.

So I will use this new code in the 2nd location.

btw… I saw on my dashboard a notice for the new theme update.

Will I loose customizations? And what should I watch out for in the update?

If you’ve edited any theme files like what I’ve just told you to do then the new files will overwrite them and you’ll lose those customizations. But as far as any options that you’ve set in the techozoic admin those should import fine into the new version. I have removed one option, actually turned it into two separate options. The sidebar width option is now split where you can set a width for the left and a different width for the right. Also the nav menu text font size has changed form pixels to em. So you’ll need to adjust that but other than that should have no problems. But please let me know if you do have any problems.

10-4 thanks…

Oh OH….

I just did the change and I lost the top post from the 14th. It is visible in the archive for the 14th but not on the top page where it also should be….

help

However, tags are now at the bottom on single pages…

OK, I’m really confused… it (the 14th post) is there now… strange…

OK, I’m going to assume that all is OK on this.

Can I just save the single.php file and place it back after the theme update, or should I do the edit again?

and if I edit again is there different code for 1.9.1

My original instructions were for 1.9.1, so you’ll just need to edit it again and use the first set of instructions.
