Hi, I’m having trouble getting the sidebars to display on my pages – for a start all the ad code I’ve put in doesn’t display at all and I can’t get a navigation widget to work unless I use a custom which looks rubbish at the top of the page. I can’t seem to get any of the widgets to work anywhere – I don’t have many plugins installed as yet as I wanted to get everything right first – can you help please? The URL to my site is http://www.markitwrite.com

Thanks 🙂

Kerry

Not to try and hijack your thread, but my sidebars also appear to not be working. My website is http://bookreviews.philliptang.com/

@Kerry I’m not sure what your meaning by your sidebars not working. They seem to be working fine. The ad code only works on the posts not standard pages.

@Phillip I guess you switched themes, so I can’t see what the problem was.

Hi Jeremy,

I solved the none display issue but am having problems with the sidebar widget (ad code widget) displaying too far to the right so it overlaps the edges of the site. I’ve looked to see if there are any cell padding/positioning options but can’t find them and have looked through the editor to see if I can add (i only know basic html) – thank you so far for your response thus far.

The sidebar is too small you’ll need to increase the size, and decrease the size of the content area.

Thanks Jeremy, can’t think why I didn’t think of that!

I’ve discovered that there is a bug with the current version and sidebar widths. The right sidebar width is used for both the left and right sidebar. So you’ll need to use the right sidebar to create the widths.

Thanks, I will have a look but it would meaning squeezing my twitter feed out – I have another issue I can’t seem to track down the answer to – on some of the pages it’s displaying the site name on the top bar twice – it’s ok on the home page (static) but the blog and other pages seem to be affected.

I see you’ve got Yoast SEO activated you might want to check it’s settings, I’m not sure what the problem is, I cant reproduce it myself.

Yes I think it must be Yoast causing the problem – possibly the way it generates seo titles but am damned if I can find a way to get around it so far, it has a silly amount of settings!
