Hello Jeremy. I am still using your theme 1.8.7 and I thank you for it. My question is simple, I hope. Is it all right to update my blog from 2.92 to the latest version which is 3.4.1? The current theme will work right? OK that was two questions. 🙂 Thank you.

1.8.7 is quite old and I haven’t tested it with any newer versions of WP, the best way would be to upgrade the theme first and then upgrade WP.

Sounds like a plan. There is no auto update for the newer theme from what I understand. Is it hard to do so manually? Thanks.

The auto updater works fine, after you upgrade to the latest version of WP it should give an option to install the latest version of the theme as well.

I understand. This is what I see in my dashboard though, that’s why I asked. “There is a new version of Techozoic Fluid available. View version 2.0.8 Details automatic upgrade unavailable for this theme” I can download it, but I never installed anything this way before. If I figure out how to do it, it won’t change my current lay out as far as the header, different pages I set up, categories, widgets on the sides, ect…will it? Thank you.

This video might help explain some of the details for uploading a theme via ftp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgWYs0mQblk

Thanks Jeremy. It shouldn’t be too hard to do. But it won’t change anything I have set up as mentioned in my previous post correct?

I’ve made many changes and improvements since this version. One lately is switching to a different options panel and some of the options would not transition correctly, mostly font choices and colors. I can’t really say if it will be a smooth transition. Youll want to make a backup of your database just to make sure.

Gotcha. Thanks. I will make a data base backup. Go Daddy makes a back up as well. One last question. I could back to the old theme if necessary then right? Thanks again for all your help.

As long as you make a copy of the current theme files before overwriting them with the new files.

Hey Jeremy. Everything has been working great with Techozoic 2.0.8 and WordPress.org 3.4.1. Do you think it will now work all right with the new version 3.4.2? Thank you.

Jeremy Clark

I’ve tested with 3.4.2 and everything seems to be fine.
