VMWare launches ESX lite

vmware.gif VMWare has launched it’s newest addition to the ESX line. The difference with this product is that it fits on 32MB of flash memory and is intended to be sold as a hardware virtualization product. VMWare achieved this by removing the general purpose operating system and only using the bare minimum services to run the hypervisor, the biggest change is that it no longer will include an administration console directly on the machine but instead use a remote console. This won’t pose a big problem to admins as the console commands are the same as before. ESX Server 3i as it is properly called is meant to be sold as an embedded hypervisor solution from OEM server manufactures.

Bioshock Demo

I just started downloading the massive demo for Bioshock, all 1.8 gigs of it. I’ve heard alot of hype about this game and I wanted to see a little of it myself. I’ll let you know how the game looks after I have time to play this weekend. I might post a few screen shots if I think about it. I’m pretty sure my system can handle it at least at lower resolutions. I’ve got one EVGA 7900 Gt card right now, I was planning on getting another one soon for SLI.

Update: I went ahead and got Bioshock for the Xbox 360, I haven’t played it yet.

Google in Space?

The newest version of Google Earth now has the ability to navigate through space. Now everyone who is an astronaut at heart can now go where no man has gone before (couldn’t resist) from the comfort of their PC. Here’s a few short demos of the new feature.

A screen shot from the new google Sky.

Summer

I’ve been extremely busy this summer as a result I’ve been hardpressed to update regularly. Although I’ve been working on my theme off and on I haven’t written anything in quite sometime.

I work for a school system and when the kids go home for the summer my job really takes off. I have to reimage computers, fix stuff the kids have broken during the year, and implement any new technology that the teachers will be using the next year. As soon as kids get back in school things will calm down and I’ll be updating more.

Microsoft’s Surface

This has to be one of the coolest things have seen recently, although I did see a commercial for the iPhone last night. But this is on a much bigger scale than an iPhone. I’ll let the video explain more.
